Part Number:

FHII

The ECHO Flow Hunter II is a highly accurate Open Channel Flowmeter using the latest non-contact ultrasonic technology for measuring flow in all types of weirs and flumes. It uses the most advanced microprocessor technology with ECHO LOGIC algorithms to provide strong, stable and reliable flow measurement.

It has been specifically designed to measure influent and effluent water flow from all types of municipal and industrial treatment plants to ensure regulatory compliance. It comes standard in a NEMA 4X, Wall Mount enclosure with a UV protected clear lid for years of maintenance-free operation.

It has 2 programmable relays, 4-20mA for level and flow output and a RS232 serial communication port. An optional RS485 can be provided.

The Flow Hunter II and XDS 03 offers the most reliable flow measurement in the market. It does not require an expensive dual transducer setup to achieve this.

  • High Accuracy: +/- 0.25% Measured Range
  • Two SPDT Relays for Alarms, Samplers, and more
  • Easy Calibration! No Manual Needed
  • High Resolution Transducer
  • 4 Button Programming = SIMPLE
  • Local Display of Flow Rate, Totalized Flow, and Head/Level
  • Narrow ECHO PULSE with focusing face (prevents condensation)

A complete system comprises of 1 Flow Hunter II and 1 XDS 03 transducer for open channel flow measurement.

The Flow Hunter II and XDS 03 Transducer are used for measuring Open Channel Flow using Primary Measuring Devices like Parshall Flumes, Palmer Bowlus, Rectangular and V-Notch Weirs, and more.  It also has a DIY or X,Y user-input table for building a Head (water level) vs. Flow spreadsheet that automatically interpolates all the points for an accurate flow measurement.

Please call ECHO to describe your flow application if you have any questions 850-609-1300.
  • Transducer Mounting:  Make sure the XDS03 transducer is mounted about 1.3 ft above the highest Head or Water level possible.  This is required because the Near Blanking Distance is 1.1 ft and any liquid that comes inside this distance from the face of the transducer out 1.1 ft will be ignored.

  • Transducer Shade:  Mount a plate or 1' x 1' plywood over the transducer to shield it from the thermal effects of the sun.  During the hot summer days, the transducer will heat up more than the ambient temperature if not shielded properly.  This will cause slight errors in the flow measurement because the Speed of Sound changes with temperature.  The XDS transducer is temperature compensated automatically.

  • Transducer Location:  Confirm the transducer has a clear shot to the Empty Distance or no flow condition and is mounted perpendicular to the water.
